Jail Superintendent Ebylino B. Escaño has assumed as the new warden of the Dumaguete City District Jail (Male Dormitory) and paid a courtesy call on Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo with outgoing warden Jail Supt. Jonairy F. Sitchon yesterday.
Mayor Remollo assures the new warden of his continued support to ensure that the jail facility will remain secured and the rights of the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) will be respected.
There are currently 359 PDL inside the City District Jail (Male Dormitory) down from more than 600 in the previous months since some of them have been given probation, posted bail, entered plea bargain agreement, released for good conduct and committed to the National Bilibid Prison thus reducing congestion.
Also present during the courtesy call and exit conference are City Administrator Lilani L. Ramon, Jail Inspector Phoebe May Baguio and BJMP personnel.
