Director Jesus F. Zamora Jr. of the Department of Science and Technology Regional Office 7 paid a courtesy call on Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo with DOST Negros Oriental Director Atty. Gilbert R. Arbon to discuss the updates on the joint projects of the agency and the City Government of Dumaguete.
Mayor Remollo also presented to the DOST officials and staff the various infrastructure projects being undertaken by the local government to improve the quality of life and spur economic development.
Both DOST and LGU Dumaguete are implementing joint projects in the fields of governance, agriculture and manufacturing services, environment and education.
Specifically, among the projects undertaken through DOST-Dumaguete collaboration are Barangay e-System and Tools (BeST) project with the Liga ng mga Barangay; GIS-based Comprehensive Land Use Planning, Urban agriculture food innovation hub (food processing for malnutrition reduction and disaster response, pottery production, craft village, plastics upcycling (product development), Darag Native Chicken, Smarter Schools in Dumaguete, makerspace TBI development, innovation consortium of Oriental Negrense and Intranet/Virtual Private Network.
