The Office of Civil Defense Region 7 commended the officials and essential personnel of the Local Government Unit of Dumaguete for completing the 6-day Public Service Continuity Planning workshop held last week that will guide them in drafting a comprehensive and sensible plan to sustain the delivery of quality basic social services before, during and after a disaster.
This is in line with the objective of Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo for all concerned agencies, first responders and members of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council to be adequately prepared in providing uninterrupted services and support to affected residents during a calamity.
Participants to the PSCP course led by City Administrator Lilani Ramon, as well as representatives from the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, Department of Education accomplished the pre-test, self-paced learning modules, assignments, video teleconferencing sessions, break-out sessions (workshops), post-test and training evaluation administered by the trainers and facilitators.
Among the speakers of the workshop are Anthony Zuniga, John Cedric Puertollano and Erwin Paulo Tolentino of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) while the speaker and facilitators from the Office of the Civil Defense Region 7 include Dennis Atto, Romeo Sta. Cruz III and Joeyann Dumdum.
The PSCP workshop is also consistent with the objectives of the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010 (Republic Act No. 10121) that underscores the need for coordinated action on disaster risk reduction and the whole-of-society investments on resilience.
