Personnel from the Department of Labor and Employment Region 6 and Iloilo province led by Regional Director Sixto Rodriguez Jr. learned more about the JobStart Program of Dumaguete City, which has provided life skills and employment opportunities to hundreds of young job seekers.
Dumaguete PESO Manager Socorro P. Mira also arranged the courtesy visit of RD Rodriguez to Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo represented by City Administrator Lilani L. Ramon to express the delegation’s appreciation for accommodating their benchmarking activity.
Dumaguete City’s JobStart Program provides the youth (18-24 year-old who are currently unemployed) to undergo the 10-day life skills training program, 3 months technical training (with daily allowance) and 3 months internship in partnership with the private employers for possible long term employment.
Through the JobStart Program, participating private employers will have the opportunity to hire interns with life skills that may meet their manpower needs with well-prepared and talented candidates who could eventually be absorbed as employees in the long term.
