United States of America Embassy Political Affairs Brett Blackshaw recently visited Dumaguete City and met with Vice-Mayor Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, representing Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo, to discuss areas of common concerns in governance, culture and tourism promotions.
The US diplomat also toured the newly inaugurated the National Museum of the Philippines in Dumaguete with Vice-Mayor Sagarbarria and City Tourism Officer-In-Charge Katherine Therese Aguilar, that featured the natural history of Negros Oriental in geology, zoology, and botany as well as exhibit architectural arts, archeology, and built heritage.
The museum, formerly the Dumaguete Presidencia built in 1937 by the great Filipino architect Juan M. Arellano, has been declared as an Important Cultural Property on account of its exceptional cultural, artistic, and historical significance as manifested by its beautiful blend of Spanish, American and Filipino architecture.
