Representatives of Dumaguete City and members of the Sandurot contingent to the recently concluded Buglasan Festival of Festivals gathered last night at the residence of Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo for the traditional thanksgiving dinner to celebrate their success.
Dumaguete City is this year’s Buglasan Festival of Festivals Champion after their representatives won several major competitions particularly the Sandurot contingent for Best in Showdown, Best in Street Dance, Best in ID Arc and Best in Choreography.
Mayor Remollo shared that he has already spoken to Cebu City Mayor Michael L. Rama of his plan to send the Sandurot contingent to compete in the 2023 Sinulog Festival.
This will be the 2nd time that Dumaguete City will compete in the Sinulog Festival.
Dumaguete’s Sandurot competed last 2017 and won 3rd Place in Free Interpretation, 5th Place in Street Parade, Best in Musicality (5th Place), Best Choreographer (3rd Place).
City Tourism Officer Jacqueline V. Antonio expressed gratitude to the city officials, dancers, choreographers, artists, utility personnel and many others, whose talents and labor contributed to the excellent performances and success of the Dumaguete team in the Buglasan Festival of Festivals.
Mayor Remollo stressed that their achievements bring honor and pride to Dumaguete City hence deserving of the continuous support of the local government.
Other members of the Dumaguete City team that were recognized last night were Shannyn L. Morales, Champion Minus-One Singing Competition Senior; Sophia Jheaner Martir, 1st Runner-up Minus-One Singing Competition Bulilit; Gandang Negorense 2nd Runner-up Patricia Goyenechea; Mr. Negros Oriental Jemuel Arnaiz; Skip Dance Family, 3rd Place Street Dance Competition; Carmelita P. Olberos, 3rd Place Lutong Garbo; Best Booth; Buglasan King Alvin Credo, Kabilin Dance Company Champion Folk Dance Competition (Rural); Silliman University Dance Troupe (western Influence) and the Dumaguete City Dancesports Team.
Vice-Mayor Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria, Councilors Karissa Tolentino-Maxino and Franklin D. Esmeña, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, SK President Renz Macion and several department heads were also present to join last night’s celebration.
