Several farmers and fisherfolk associations participated in this year’s 25th Farm Family Congress currently being held at the Quezon Park starting yesterday until tomorrow as part of the celebration of the 74th Charter Anniversary of Dumaguete City organized by the City Agriculturist Office.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo has approved the distribution of the different livelihood projects/package for the farmers and fisherfolk associations in the barangays to further help augment their family income.
Among the livelihood projects and package distributed yesterday to the recipient associations are:
1) Fish traps, weighing scale and plastic cooler for Calindagan, Mangnao, Banilad Fisherfolks Association; Bantayan Fisherfolks Association, Looc, Piapi, Tinago Fisherfolks Association
2) Ready to Lay Hens with cages, egg weighing scale and 3 bags of feeds for Million Flowers Rural Improvement Club of Barangay Mangnao; Mag-uuma sa Barangay Bajumpandan Farmers Association; Calindagan Fisherfolk Association; Squash Farmers Association of Barangay Candau-ay; Rural Improvement Club of Barangay Candau-ay; Camanjac Farmers Association and Multi-Cultivator Vegetable Growers Association of Barangay Candau-ay
3) 1-unit hand tractor with complete farm implements for Radish Farmers Association of Barangay Junob
4) Rice thresher and power sprayer for Dumaguete Rice Farmers Association of Barangay Banilad
5) Weighing scale, plastic cooler with cover and drift gill net for Association of Calindagan Fisherfolks and Calindagan Fisherfolks Association
6) 1-unit Multi-cultivator for the Vegetable and Tilapia Growers Association
7) Weighing scale, plastic cooler with cover for Barangay Tinago Fisherfolks Association; Calindagan United Women’s Association; Canday-ong Calindagan Fisherfolks Association; Mangnao Fisherfolk Association; Women’s Association of Calindagan; Banilad Manguilawod Fisherfolks Association; Dumaguete City Tilapia Gorwers Association of Barangay Candau-ay; Dumaguete City Bangus Fry Association of Barangay Banilad and Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Piapi Purok Anduhaw

The livelihood projects and equipment were procured by the City Agriculture Office and the 5% share of the Gender and Development Fund of the City Government.
Present during the opening program and turnover of livelihood projects are City Agriculturist Office-OIC Maria Victoria B. Umbac, GAD Focal Person Aveangel Alcorin, officers and members of the associations.
