Newly-assumed Philippine Coast Guard Station Negros Oriental Commander CG LT Niño Jhanus G. Aniban with his staff paid a courtesy call on Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo to underscore the agency’s obligation to enforce maritime laws that will ensure the safety and security of sea travelers.
As a member of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, chaired by Mayor Remollo, the Philippine Coast Guard also helps in search and rescue or oil spill response operations in coordination with other agencies.

As part of its maritime law enforcement functions, the Philippine Coast Guard is mandated to prevent piracy, smuggling, poaching, illegal fishing, illegal entry, human smuggling, illegal logging, drug trafficking, gun running and terrorist activities.
