The Bureau of Fire Protection Region VII and the City Government of Dumaguete formally signed the Deed of Usufruct that will allow the BFP to utilize a portion of the LGU-owned government center in Barangay Bajumpandan for the construction of the city and provincial fire stations within 2 to 3 years.
Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo, who signed the deed of usufruct on behalf of the City Government, commended the BFP leadership for its commitment to construct a building that will adequately provide spaces for the administrative offices, operations section, sleeping quarters, parking lots for their fire engines and equipment in a strategic location further empowering the agency to answer any emergency requiring assistance.
For his part, BFP Region 7 Director Chief Supt. Jaime D. Ramirez expressed his sincere gratitude to Mayor Remollo, Vice-Mayor Ma. Isabel Sagarbarria and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod for granting the free use of the lot and pledged that an appropriate city fire station will be built on the site within 2-3 years to be followed by the construction of the Office of the Provincial Fire Director BFP Negros Oriental.
Present during the ceremonial signing of the deed of usufruct are Vice-Mayor Sagarbarria, Councilors Rey Lyndon Lawas, Antonio Remollo, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, Negros Oriental Provincial Fire Director Supt. Joel B. Abarquez and City Fire Marshal Chief Inspector Marlon K. Chomling.
The newly signed deed of usufruct is valid for 25 years and renewable for another 25 years unless there is a violation in the terms and conditions of the agreement.
