Dozens of residents and some from neighboring towns participated in the 5th local and overseas job fair conducted by the City Government through the Public Employment Service Office last Saturday at Robinsons Place Dumaguete.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo reiterated that among the priorities of his administration is to provide more employment opportunities to all interested residents so they can provide for their families and live decently.
Also in attendance are City Councilor Karissa Faye Tolentino-Maxino, Deputy Mayor for Livelihood and Sangguniang Kabataan President Renz Macion, Deputy Mayor for Employment, who motivated the applicants to try their best and to never give up until they shall have found the jobs suitable for them.
Senior Labor and Employment Officer Anita Melicor of the Department of Labor and Employment conveyed the agency’s recognition of the accomplishments of PESO Dumaguete under the leadership of Manager Socorro P. Mira and the support of Mayor Remollo which earned the office a nomination for the Secretary’s Bayanihan Service Award during the recently concluded ceremony in Clark, Pampanga.
PESO Dumaguete also expressed appreciation to the partner agencies DOLE, OWWA, DMW, and TESDA for providing technical assistance to the applicants.
Also recognized were the various agencies and organizations which participated in the job fair that while 15 were applicants hired on the spot, more will be employed after the results of the interviews and examinations are completed.
