Dumaguete City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla received her award as one of the Regional Winners for the 2022 Search for Outstanding Government Workers for the Dangal ng Bayan Individual Category by the Civil Service Commission.
Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo congratulated Dr. Talla for bringing honor and pride to Dumaguete City.
Through Dr. Talla’s technical guidance, the city was able to control the COVID-19 pandemic, obtained the highest vaccination rate of 141.56% in Central Visayas exceeding the 80.67% goal for herd immunity set by DOH, and prevented deaths.
Dr. Talla, who received her award with son Dr. Rajnan Omar B. Talla, City General Services Officer Azucena Gonzales and Negros Oriental Siquijor Provincial Director Merlinda Flores-Quillano, credited Mayor Remollo’s sustained support in the efforts against COVID19, which is instrumental in achieving herd immunity and the reopening of the local economy.
CSC Region 7 Director Carlos A. Evangelista expressed optimism that Dr. Talla’s laudable endeavors and accomplishments will truly be an inspiration and worthy of emulation to achieve the dream of making every civil servant into a Lingkod Bayani.
The awarding ceremony held in Cebu City was keynoted by Lapu-lapu City District Representative Ma. Cynthia K. Chan.
Dr. Talla will represent Region 7 in the national search for Dangal ng Bayan Individual Category, thus her nomination documents will be forwarded to the Civil Service Commission HAP Secretariat for evaluation and deliberation by the National Committee on Awards.
