The City Government has extended assistance to qualified farmer associations so they can engage in backyard swine raising while waiting for their crops to be harvested thereby augmenting their family income.
Councilor Franklin Esmeña, Deputy Mayor for Agriculture (representing Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo), urged the farmer-beneficiaries to use the assistance of 113 bags of starter feeds, grower feeds and finisher released through the City Agriculture Office for swine fattening so that after 3 months the pigs can be sold with the proceeds ready for the next production cycle.
Gender and Development Focal Person Aveangel Alcorin and City OIC-Agriculturist Ma. Victoria Umbac also assured regular monitoring that livestock technicians and agricultural technologists will constantly monitor the implementation of the project.
