The City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council convened yesterday and approved the proposed programs, projects and activities that will be funded under the 5% LDRRMF in the amount of P 50.3 million for the year 2023.
Councilor Rey Lyndon Lawas, Deputy Mayor for Public Safety, presided the meeting attended by SK Federation President Renz Macion, department heads, heads of the uniformed services and representatives of Civil Society Organizations.
Among the programs and activities included in the Local DRRM Plan for 2023 are construction/rehabilitation of structure defining Lagnasan waterways in Barangays Bajumpandan, Banilad and Mangnao at P 12 million; construction/rehabilitation of shoreline protection structures in Poblacion 1 at P 4 million; implementation of preventive measures against dengue, avian flu, swine flu, COVID-19, emerging infectious diseases and other communicable diseases at P 8.5 million; purchase of preparedness and rescue equipment at P 2.3 million; conduct of various training, simulations and information education campaign for first responders and other sectors at P 4.4 million; accidental insurance for first responders and volunteers at P 200, 000 and other expenditures for disaster preparedness, rehabilitation, response and recovery.
Of the P 50.3 million LDRRM fund for 2023: 70% or P 35.2 million was allocated for pre-disaster prevention activities while 30% or P 15.1 million was earmarked for Quick Response Fund relief and recovery when actual disaster or calamity occurs.
