Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo formally accepts the award of Dumaguete City Government as “Best in Resource Recovery in a Centralized Materials Recovery Facility” among all the cities and municipalities in Region 7 or Central Visayas by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources Region 7 Director Maribel B. Munsayac and DENR-EMB 7 Regional Executive Director Pacquito D. Melicor Jr.
City Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, City Budget Officer Antonieta General and City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Leonides Caro are present as Mayor Remollo commended the personnel from the Central Materials Recovery Facility under Engr. Leticia Duran and Environment and Natural Resources Office under Engr. Chilvier C. Patrimonio for this latest achievement.
The DENR recognized Mayor Remollo and Dumaguete LGU for generating a monthly income of at least P 500, 000 for the City Government through its recovery of recyclable materials/wastes while providing livelihood for the waste pickers through proper and sustainable solid waste management.
DENR-EMB 7 also noted that Dumaguete City was able to truly utilize the financial assistance from DENR by establishing a plastic chair facility and purchase of bio-composter and other equipment to improve the City MRF.
Councilor Rey Lyndon Lawas (representing Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo) and Engr. Leticia Duran attended the Awarding for Best Practices on Solid Waste Management Implementation in a ceremony held recently at Radisson Blu Hotel, Cebu City.
