A delegation from the City Government of Dumaguete headed by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo is now in South Korea to meet with potential investors, explore more tourism linkages, learn best practices on balanced and climate resilient urban development and seek increased job opportunities for our local residents.
The delegation was fetched in Seoul by officials of our sister city Yeongdong-gun and began bilateral talks, upon the invitation of the Korean officials, to strengthen the seasonal work and youth/student exchanges and to participate as special guests in the 2022 Yeongdong Grape Festival.
The City Government of Dumaguete will also discuss with Mayor Jeong Yeong Chul the deployment of more seasonal workers in Yeongdong-gun next year and for the Korean officials to come for a reciprocal visit this October during the Buglasan Festival that will be held in Pantawan People’s Park.
Mayor Remollo commended Yeongdong-gun for accepting agricultural workers and student exchange and for sending tens of thousands of face masks during the that were used by the health workers, frontliners and residents to prevent COVID-19 infection.
To note, from an initial 1st batch of almost 40 workers, it is expected that about 100 will be employed next season and each worker is expected to earn as much P 80, 000 per month or more that will be of great help to their families.
