Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo confirms that this year’s edition of Buglasan Festival, after 2 years of hiatus, will be held at the Pantawan People’s Park along the Rizal Boulevard this October Aquino Freedom Park and the drainage system undergo rehabilitation for beautification and prevent floods during heavy rains.
To amply prepare for the province-wide festival, Mayor Remollo will work closely with the Provincial Government to provide facilities and improvements to accommodate the booths, attractions and thousands of revelers expected to converge at the site.
Civil works are ongoing so that adequate and safe parking spaces and areas for the nightly performances are available for the enjoyment of both local residents and tourists.
Mayor Remollo also said that additional waste segregation bins will also be installed at the Pantawan People’s Park and the entire stretch of the Rizal Boulevard promenade to maintain cleanliness.
Portalets will be made available to complement the 5 existing comfort rooms for public use.
And to enhance the public address system, a LED wall has been installed and undergoing test run so that Buglasan activities and other information/announcement will be shown for public awareness.
Mayor Remollo credited the significant downgrading of the alert level status of the city at Level 1 and the achievement of having the highest COVID-19 vaccination rate of 141.56% in Central Visayas (exceeding the 80.67% goal for herd immunity set by the Department of Health) contributed to the relaxation of health protocols and restrictions thus allowing the resumption of regulated sports activities, face-to-face classes and mass gatherings like the upcoming Buglasan Festival.
