The country’s living basketball legend Mon Fernandez is now featured in a commemorative stamp for being recognized as one of the “Outstanding Filipinos” in Philippine Postal Corporation’s commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the First Stamp of the Philippines as a Republic.
Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo and Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino congratulated El Presidente Fernandez, for the distinction of being among the country’s greatest who deserved to be immortalized for dedicating their lives and talents to the Filipino people.
In his message in response to this latest accolade, Fernandez, thanked everyone who supported and inspired him, especially his wife Karla Fernandez and reiterates that he will always be a Proud Probinsiyano because that defines his humble beginnings as a sportsman from his home town of Maasin Southern Leyte until he competed in the FIBA World Championships.
The “Living Legends – Outstanding Filipinos: Series I” is the second of the three categories of the Philippine stamps released by the Post Office commemorating the 75th Anniversary of the first issuance of stamps by the Republic of the Philippines.
The stamps are available in postal offices all over the country.
