Personnel from the different concerned agencies conducted road clearing operations of the main streets of Dumaguete City led by the Department of Public Works and Highways with the assistance of the City Government through Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to remove all obstructions and improve traffic flow along the national highway.
Among the agencies involved in the road clearing operations are the Provincial Highway Patrol Group, Philippine National Police, Traffic Management Office and the Department of Interior and Local Government.
DPWH stressed that it is the mandate of the government to ensure that all roads and streets, particularly the national highway, must be free of all types of obstructions to ensure the free flow of traffic and safety of both motorists and pedestrians pursuant to Presidential Decree No. 17, known as the Philippine Highway Act supported by DPWH Department Order No. 73; series of 2014 and the Local Government Code of 1991.
