Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo and Councilor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino commended the 300 beneficiaries who completed the 20-day Special Program for the Employment of Students (SPES) in the different offices of the City Government.
The SPES beneficiaries gathered today for the closing rites at the residence of Mayor Remollo to mark the completion of their work assignments. The compensation that the students will earn will be used in paying for their tuition fees during enrollment.
City Public Employment Service Office Manager Maria Socorro P. Mira said that SPES beneficiaries are entitled to receive a total of P 9, 846.40 for complete attendance through a counterpart scheme at 60% for LGU-Dumaguete and 40% for Department of Labor and Employment.
Mayor Remollo is optimistic that aside from earning monetary compensation, the 300 students were also able to learn work ethics and life lessons that will prepare them to become responsible citizens and productive employees or entrepreneurs after graduation.
