The newly-elected officers of 4 fisherfolk associations have been formally inducted into office by Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo in the presence of Provincial Fisheries Officer Florencia T. Mepaña and the Officer-In-Charge of the City Agriculturist’s Office Maria Victoria B. Umbac last Friday.
Mayor Remollo also informed the members and officers of the associations that they are the target recipients of the 80 fiberglass motorized fishing boats with accessories under the DOLE Livelihood (KABAYAN) Program as means to support and augment their family income.
The City Agriculture Office has been tasked to identify the recipients and facilitate the provision of the fiberglass motorized fishing boats.
The officers of the following fisherfolk associations led by their respective Presidents took their oath office administered by Mayor Remollo: Barangay Tinago Fisherfolk Association (BATIFAS) headed by President Edwin Duran; Nagkahiusang Mananagat sa Piapi Purok Anduhaw (NAMAPPA) with President Celso Temio; Looc Fisherfolk Association (LOFA) with President James Rubio and Bantayan Fisherfolk Association (BAFA) with President Esperato Abode.
Also present during the oath taking ceremony were Looc Punong Barangay Angelita C. Ragay and Piapi Punong Barangay Clark Labi and the staff of BFAR Provincial Office.
