Three (3) committees of the Sangguniang Panlungsod convened yesterday to discuss several proposals that will improve access to medical services and employment for Dumaguete City residents.
Yesterday’s joint committee meeting discussed the pending proposed ordinances namely:
1. An Ordinance Establishing and Institutionalizing the Dumaguete City Medical Emergency Response Unit (DCMERU) and Providing Funds Thereof: authors Councilor Edgar Lentorio Jr. and Liga ng mga Barangay President Dione Amores, co-authors Councilors Manuel Sagrbarria, Lilani Ramon and Manuel Patrimonio
2. An Ordinance Establishing Mental Health Program in Dumaguete City author Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, co-authors Councilors Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio Jr., Bernice Elmaco and SK President Renz Macion
3. An Ordinance Creating a Local Help Desk for Cancer Patients Under the City Health Office, Defining Its Functions, and Providing Funds Therefor – authors Vice-Mayor Tolentino-Maxino, Councilors Lentorio, Perdices, Macion, Bandal, Elmaco and Rosel Erames
4. An Ordinance establishing the Barangay Employment Desk (BED) in Every Barangay in the City of Dumaguete: author Councilor Lilani Ramon, co-authors Vice-Mayor Tolentino-Maxino, Councilors Manuel Sagarbarria, Bandal, Lentorio, Patrimonio, Amores and SK President Renz Macion
5. An Ordinance Enjoining all Business Establishments, Investors, Contractors, and the Like to Prioritize Bonafide Residents of the City of Dumaguete in Employment Setting Forth the Minimum Percentage of Bonafide Residents in their Workforce and Providing the Guidelines and Exceptions Thereof: authors Councilor Michael Bandal, Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, co-authors Councilors Lentorio, Patrimonio and Amores
6. Regarding the Desludging Operations of the City Septage Treatment Plant and Other Relevant Matters
Present during the joint committee meeting were the authors and co-authors of the proposed ordinances and other stakeholders to include the Punong Barangays, department heads and members of the Local Finance Committee.
