Eligible city residents are now getting 2nd COVID-19 booster shot at the City Health Office in accordance with the guidelines of the Department of Health.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla said that for now only frontline healthcare workers, senior citizens (60-years-old and above) and immunocompromised populations are advised to get 2nd COVID-19 booster shots.
The City Health Office also reports that some 183, 362 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered to 86, 531 eligible residents (including those who got their booster shots) using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Moderna, Sinopharm, Pfizer and the single dose Janssen jabs as of May 26, 2022.
Dumaguete City, obtained the highest vaccination rate of 141.56% in Central Visayas exceeding the 80.67% goal for herd immunity set by the Department of Health after the City Health Office, Provincial Health Office and hospitals vaccinated a combined 157, 619 residents and workers, which is much higher than the target of 111, 348 individuals.
