The Banilad Plains View which is the housing project intended for Sendong victims in 2012 is finally in the hands of the city after it won the case in 2016.
Three land titles in the name of the National Housing Authority (NHA) with an area of 3.7 hectares were turned over to the city represented by Mayor Ipe Remollo this afternoon during simple rites including the approved subdivision plan for 403 lots.
NHA District Manager for Negros Oriental and Siquijor district Claire de Lune P. Villanueva says Dumaguete City is fortunate because under the Mandanas-Garcia ruling all low cost and socialized housing subdivision functions are fully devolved to local government units.
NHA had spent 40 million for acquiring the property from the Tale family including land development.
Mayor Remollo said he already has a strategy in the construction of the units.
