General Dionardo Bernardo Carlos, Chief of the Philippine National Police, is now officially recognized as an adopted son of Dumaguete City following the declaration of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the Sangguniang Panlungsod in simple rites at the City Hall this morning.
Mayor Remollo, who shared that General Carlos is married to a Dumagueteña, paid tribute to General Carlos’ commendable services, support and cooperation during his term as Chief-of-Police of the Dumaguete City Police Station in 2006-2008 and as the Provincial Director of Negros Oriental from June 2015 to January 2016.
Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlungsod also presented a resolution declaring Police General Dionardo Bernardo Carlos as an honorary constituent of Dumaguete City by virtue of his “accomplishments, devotion to country and service which embody the enduring character and true spirit of a Dumagueteño that is worthy of emulation and recognition.”
The plaque of recognition declaring General Carlos as an adopted son of Dumaguete City was signed by Mayor Remollo and the SP resolution was sponsored by Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Councilors Manuel Sagarbarria, Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio Jr., Lilani Ramon, Manuel Patrimonio, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores and SK Federation President Renz Macion all highlighted the fact that “throughout his career, General Carlos devoted his time and expertise to minimize the threat of insurgency, intensified the fight against criminality and illegal drugs just so that ordinary people can enjoy peace and attain prosperity.
In his message, General Carlos underscored the fact that his stint as Dumaguete City Chief-of-Police paved the way and opened other opportunities that molded him to ultimately become the Chief of the 220, 000-strong Philippine National Police.
General Carlos recalls that for the first time Dumaguete City PNP was recognized as the Best City Police Station in Central Visayas Region while under his supervision along with the outstanding performance of the personnel and the firm cooperation with the community stakeholders.
As an affirmation of his love of Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental, General Carlos said that he will be retiring in the city and shall even engage as an entrepreneur at the Rizal Boulevard/Bay walk.
General Carlos is an alumnus of the Philippine Military Academy Maringal Class of 1988 and as a testament to his excellent leadership and track record of performance; he is a recipient of numerous honors and awards for his accomplishments here and abroad.
