The Philippine AirAsia flights connecting Manila to Dumaguete has commenced its operations with the arrival of its aircraft at past 8:00 o’clock this morning at the Dumaguete-Sibulan airport for its inaugural flight that was accorded a water cannon salute to mark the opening of this route.
Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo was invited as guest of honor and speaker during the ceremony along with other dignitaries including Governor Roel Degamo, Vice-Governor Mark Macias, 1st District Representative Josy Limkaichong, Department of Tourism Undersecretary Woodrow Maquiling Jr., Sibulan Mayor Jose Abiera, City Tourism Officer Jacqueline V. Antonio and Provincial Tourism Officer Myla Mae Abellana.
AirAsia is the 3rd airline servicing the Manila-Dumaguete route 4 times a week.

Manila-Dumaguete (flight number Z2 641) departs at 7:00am and arrives at 8:25 am
Dumaguete-Manila (flight number Z2 642) departs at 9:05am and arrives at 10:25am
Mayor Remollo lauded the entry of AirAsia as the 3rd airline to service the Dumaguete market, which will help stimulate the growth of the tourism industry and local economy now that all business establishments in the city are allowed to resume operations in full capacity after the National IATF-MEID downgraded the status of Dumaguete City to Alert Level 1.
For his part, Philippines AirAsia Incorporated Chief Executive Office Ricky P. Isla expressed optimism that the airline’s newest route would help grow the tourism industry of Negros Oriental.
