City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah Talla reports that the last 2 COVID-19 patients, both septuagenarians, have already been cleared by their attending physicians to have recovered from COVID-19 as of Thursday.
Hence, with the recovery of the 2 COVID-19 patients, Mayor Felipe Antonio B. Remollo has confirmed that Dumaguete City does not have any active COVID-19 cases in all its 30 component barangays of April 7, 2022.
The latest recoveries include the 73-year-old unvaccinated resident of Poblacion 8 and the 76-year-old vaccinated resident of Pulantubig, whose positive result was belatedly reported only yesterday but has since recovered as confirmed by her doctor.
Of the 5, 804 total number of COVID-19 cases reported since Dumaguete City was affected by the pandemic from January 30, 2020 to April 7, 2022 about 5, 638 have recovered.
Dumaguete City, which was placed under Alert Level 1, obtained the highest vaccination rate of 141.56% in Central Visayas exceeding the 80.67% goal for herd immunity set by the Department of Health after the City Health Office, Provincial Health Office and hospitals vaccinated 157, 619 residents and workers, which is much higher than the target of 111, 348 individuals.
