The Public Employment Service Office confirms that Overseas Filipino Workers in distress can now avail of financial assistance from the City Government through Ms. Miraluna Cadayona of the OFW Help Desk.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo approved the grant of P 5, 000.00 financial assistance for distressed/displaced/abused OFWs or their next of kin provided that they submit all the necessary requirements.
Last year, the first batch of qualified OFWs received financial assistance at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
PESO Manager Maria Socorro P. Mira clarified that only Filipino citizens, bonafide residents of Dumaguete City, beneficiaries or next of kin of OFWs (who died while on active duty), distressed/displaced OFWs or those separated or abandoned by their OFW spouses can be recipients under the program.
