Hibbard Avenue will be temporarily closed to traffic from 12:00AM to 8:00PM tomorrow (February 4) and Sunday (February 6) as court personnel, proctors, medical staff and examinees are expected to converge at Silliman University for the conduct of the 2020/2021 Bar examinations.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, who is also a lawyer, has honored the request of Supreme Court Associate Justice Mario Victor F. Leonen, Chairperson of the 2020/21 Bar Examinations, to help provide the needed personnel and resources for traffic management, police assistance, health protocols and the cooperation of the barangays for the entire duration of the exam.
Among the bar examinees are residents of Dumaguete City, neighboring towns and cities, Provinces of Siquijor, Negros Occidental, Bohol, Cebu, Zamboanga and the National Capital Region.
Concerned agencies of the City Government held this afternoon an ocular of the perimeter and areas where the personnel and vehicles will be deployed in support for the safe and orderly conduct of the bar exams.
Retired Police Brigadier General Rey Lyndon Toledo Lawas, City Adviser for Concerns on Security, Emergency Preparedness, Management and Response; City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Allen Froilan Cabaron joined the ocular on the eve of the examinations.
Silliman University College of Law has been selected as one of the 28 local testing centers across the country.
Atty. Maria Victoria Tiangco and the staff of the Office of the Bar Chairperson have been holding coordination meetings with concerned city officials to plan and implement and elaborate plan to ensure the safety of all examinees, court personnel and the members of the public.
