Three (3) school buildings that will provide a total of additional 24 classrooms will be constructed this year after Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo approved the program of works amounting to almost P 36 million, which shall be taken from the local Special Education Fund.
Among the 3 recipient public schools for the construction of a 2-storey, 8 classroom school building are the North City Elementary School at P 11.9 million; South City Elementary School P 11.9 million and the Cadawinonan Elementary School at P 11.9 million including the improvement of its covered stage at P 500, 000.
Mayor Remollo said that his administration is consistent in investing for the construction of school buildings and facilities that will serve the needs of both faculty and students to improve the learning environment and quality of education especially when face-to-face classes resume after the COVID-19 pandemic shall be minimized or controlled.
North City Elementary School serves the pupils who are mostly residents of Barangays Looc, Daro, Piapi and Bantayan; the South City Elementary primarily serves the students from Barangays Mangnao, Bagacay and Banilad while the Cadawinonan Elementary School not only serves the pupils of Barangays Cadawinonan but also those from Upper Balugo.
Mayor Remollo has earmarked P 62.2 million for the construction of 9 school buildings in 7 public schools this year along with the electrical upgrade for the Dumaguete City National High School worth P 1 million and improvement of covered stage at Cadawinonan Elementary School at P 500, 000.
