All the Barangay Tanods of Dumaguete City received their uniform reflectorized vests in a ceremony yesterday at the Pantawan 2 People’s Park through the partnership of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and the 4 Rotary Clubs of the city.
Mayor Ipe Remollo commended the Barangay Tanods of the 30 component barangays for being instrumental in keeping the peace in their respective communities.
The City Government has been providing all qualified Barangay Tanods with quarterly incentive of P 2, 100 each provided they complete all the training required of them by the DILG.
Dubbed “Rotary Para sa Kalinaw,” this area wide project of District 3860 Area 3D was aimed to provide uniforms to all Barangay Tanods in appreciation to their service.
Barangay Tanods serve as force multipliers who provide valuable intelligence and manpower complement to the Philippine National Police and other law enforcement agencies in preventing and solving crimes.
Among those who also attended yesterday’s ceremony were Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Councilors Michael Bandal, Lilani Ramon, Edgar Lentorio Jr.,Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores, Calindagan Punong Barangay Maisa Sagarbarria, former Councilor Atty. Samuel Dicen, Rotary President Rey Lyndon Lawas, Piapi Punong Barangay and Past Assistant Governor Area D Clark Labi, Assistant Governor Area 3D Nestor “Bambi” D. Navarro, Punong Barangays and Rotarians.
