The Dumaguete City Government headed by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo led the commemoration of the 125th martyrdom anniversary of our national hero Dr. Jose P. Rizal at the Manuel L. Quezon Park this morning.
City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde was the keynote speaker of the event and invoked the values, lessons and heroism of Philippine national hero Dr. Jose Rizal under the theme “Rizal: Para sa Agham, Katotohanan at Buhay.”
Various organizations, educational institutions, prominent citizens and local officials including Councilors Lilani Ramon, Michael Bandal, Edgar Lentorio Jr., former City Councilor Manuel Arbon and departments of the City Government joined the ceremony to remember the death by execution of our national hero Dr. Jose Rizal on December 30 about 125 years ago. The law declares every December 30 a public holiday nationwide.
