For 3 days in the last 7 days, the City Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases reported no new COVID-19 positive cases.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla also informed Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City IATF-MEID that 4 COVID patients, all residents of Barangay Bajumpandan, have recovered today.
The number of active COVID-19 cases drops to just 11, the lowest in several months, with 4, 453 recoveries and 148 deaths as of December 28, 2021.
Seven (7) of the active COVID cases are unvaccinated individuals including 3 children as young as 7-month-old while the oldest is a 70-year-old grandmother.
Only 1 of the 5 hospitals have COVID-19 patients, SUMC with just 2, who are residents of Dumaguete City.
Twenty-four (24) of the 30 component barangays report zero active cases to include: Bagacay, Bajumpandan, Bantayan, Batinguel, Buñao, Calindagan, Camanjac, Candau-ay, Cantil-e, Daro, Looc, Motong, Piapi, Poblacion 1, Poblacion 2, Poblacion 3, Poblacion 4, Poblacion 5, Poblacion 6, Poblacion 7, Poblacion 8, Pulantubig, Tabuctubig and Talay.
The remaining barangays with active COVID-19 cases are Balugo [1], Banilad [1], Cadawinonan [1], Junob [1], Mangnao [1] and Taclobo [6].
