Key personnel assigned to the Emergency Operations Center, Incident Management Team and Response Clusters that were activated by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo before and during the onslaught of Typhoon ODETTE met this afternoon for a debriefing and to discuss means to improve the level of performance of all responsible officials and responders to achieve zero casualty.
Among the participants of the debriefing are City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Allen Froilan O. Cabaron II, City Adviser for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon Lawas, Liga ng mga Barangay President Dionie Amores and the representatives of the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Fire Protection, CSWDO, City Health Office, City Planning and Development Office, City Nutrition Office and the City Engineer’s Office who engaged in lively discussions and put forward recommendations on how to enhance the coordination of the different agencies to ensure timely and adequate deployment of personnel and resources based on accurate information.
The preemptive evacuation of thousands of individuals living in critical areas ensured that there will be less people exposed to physical danger and harm at the height of Typhoon ODETTE in Dumaguete City.
With the lessons learned and proper adjustments in protocols and response to be adopted by the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, it is envisioned that the city will be able to minimize if not prevent any unnecessary loss of life and mitigate devastation to properties.
