Department of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones led the inauguration of the 3 units, 3-story 12-classroom school building for the Dumaguete City National High School with City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, 2nd District Congressman Manuel Sagarbarria, Councilor Lilani Ramon, Provincial Consultant Dr. Henry Sojor and Calindagan Punong Barangay Maisa Sagarbarria last Thursday.
Mayor Remollo lauded Secretary Briones for the approving the project for 36 new classrooms which will help address the shortage due to the rising student population.
Thursday’s event was attended by other Deped top officials to include Undersecretary Alain Del B. Pascua, Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez, City Schools Division Supt. Gregorio Cyrus Elejorde, Dr. Juditha Mapue, Dr. Nelson Caday, DCNHS School Principal III Alden Rabina and Assistant School Principal Claudio Sun.
In the same event, education and local officials also held the ground breaking ceremony of the Deped RO-7 Regional Sub-office, which will be built to serve the needs of teachers and learners in Dumaguete City and Negros Oriental.
Finally, the Dumaguete City National High School also launched the 1st Gabaldon Heritage Week which gives importance to the conservation of Gabaldon buildings in the city.
