Some 2, 355 residents of Dumaguete City have already received payment totaling P 9.9 million for their labor under TUPAD or the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced workers of the Department of Labor and Employment.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo commended DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III for allocating P 10 million for the implementation of the TUPAD Program in Dumaguete City that already benefitted thousands of residents in the first 3 batches.
Last week, 938 TUPAD beneficiaries received their TUPAD wages during a brief ceremony at NORSU Gymnasium attended by Mayor Remollo, Vice Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, DOLE Negros Oriental Field Office Chief Marites G. Mercado, Assistant Secretary Victor A. Del Rosario and PESO Dumaguete Manager Maria Socorro P. Mira with barangay officials.
Another batch (4th) of 387 beneficiaries is now rendering services in the various barangays including the clearing of debris in the aftermath of Typhoon Odette last week.
TUPAD is a 10-day emergency employment given to displaced and unemployed individuals who shall receive P 4, 040.00 each for their labor.
