Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, Chairperson of the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, directed the activation of the Emergency Operations Center as part of the preparations considering that Severe Tropical Storm Odette PH has now entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
The CDRRM Council was convened by Mayor Remollo this afternoon, through City DRRM Officer Allen Froilan Cabaron, II to conduct the Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) so that all concerned agencies and officials will have ample time to prepare their personnel and resources for appropriate response when the need arises.
CMO Dan Caber of PAGASA Weather Observation Station forecasts that Severe Tropical Storm Odette once inside PAR, will intensify into Typhoon category tomorrow and a peak intensity of 155 kilometer per hour may reach prior landfall in Southern Leyte or CARAGA Region (December 16).
Possible TCWS will be hoisted over Eastern Visayas-CARAGA Region including in some areas in Southern Luzon on Wednesday or earlier due to strong typhoon-force wind.
Also present in today’s PDRA were OCD-7 Provincial DRMM Officer Adrian Sedillo and the Municipal DRRM Officers of Sibulan, Valencia and Bacong for sharing of information and better coordination.
