Key personnel of agencies and organizations responsible for disaster response participated in the 4-day Contingency Planning Training Course that culminated Friday at Plaza Maria Luisa.
City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Allen Froilan O. Cabaron II said that Republic Act 10121 defines contingency as a management process that analyzes specific potential events or emerging situations that might threaten society or the environment and establishes arrangements in advance to enable timely, effective and appropriate responses to such events and situations.
Contingency planning is a hazard specific, scenario-based, planning for the worst-case scenario and puts in place arrangements of mechanisms for response.
Cabaron is optimistic that the city’s disaster response will be enhanced through the training workshop of key personnel that will be utilized and deployed once an actual calamity occurs.
