Nine (9) senior citizens are among the 34 new COVID-19 cases reported today by City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla along with 23 recoveries and 2 deaths.
There are 178 active COVID-19 cases with 3, 903 recoveries and 127 deaths since the pandemic affected the city from January 30, 2020 to the present November 4, 2021.
Among the 34 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases are 9 senior citizens, the oldest being 91-year-old; 3 health workers; 5 children as young as 2-year-old; 2 teachers; a BPO employee and those who are close contacts of earlier positive cases.
The 34 new COVID-19 cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (9), Bantayan (5), Batinguel (3), Cantil-e (1), Daro (1), Piapi (4), Poblacion 1 (1), Poblacion 7 (2), Pulantubig (3) and Taclobo (5).
Meanwhile, the 23 new COVID-19 recoveries are residents of Barangay Batinguel (13), Cadawinonan (1), Piapi (1), Tabuctubig (1), Taclobo (5) and Talay (2).
The 2 new fatalities include an unvaccinated resident and a 44-year-old resident, but who was outside the city when she was infected and died.
Of the 178 active COVID cases: 120 cases are monitored and handled by the personnel of the City Health Office; 15 are confined at Silliman University Medical Center; 24 are admitted at NOPH; 3 are confined at ACE Doctors; 5 are at Holy Child Hospital, 7 at Negros Polymedic Hospital and 4 cases are outside of Dumaguete City.
