The City Government through the Public Employment Service Office disbursed P 6.5 million as wages for the 2 batches of 1, 417 beneficiaries of the TUPAD or Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers of the Department of Labor and Employment.
Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo said that this is part of the P 25 million allocation promised by DOLE Secretary Silvestre Bello III during the latter’s visit to Dumaguete City last March to provide 10-day emergency employment to disadvantaged and displaced residents under the TUPAD program.
PESO Manager Socorro P. Mira said that 2 more batches of TUPAD beneficiaries will be deployed to undertake various tasks to maintain cleanliness in the barangays.
