Members of the Committee on Education and other concerned officials met last Thursday to discuss suggestions of increasing the number of college scholars after securing the continued support of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo to fund the Educational Assistance Program of the City Government.
Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino, Chairperson of the Committee on Education, presided over the meeting attended by members Councilor Lilani Ramon, SK President Renz Macion and concerned officials of the CSWDO led by Lilibeth Filipinas.
As approved by Mayor Remollo, the City Government has 489 scholars who receive P 6, 000 per semester or P 12, 000 for the whole school year. And Mayor Remollo agrees with the suggestion of the Committee on Education to allocate additional funds to increase the number of scholars.
However, it was reiterated during the meeting that qualified scholars must only have one chance of shifting to another course, should have no failing grade and must get regular units per semester to remain a beneficiary.
