Eighteen (18) children, as young as 2-years-old, and 4 detained PDLs are among the 80 new cases confirmed today by City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla along with 1 recovery and 2 deaths.
These are the results of the swab tests done in the past 2 days (October 21 and 22) for close contacts and persons manifesting symptoms of Influenza Like Illness or ILI.
Two senior citizens with COVID-19 died while confined in the hospitals but an 87-year-old businesswoman, who was vaccinated from coronavirus, was the sole recovery reported today.
Hence, the number of active COVID-19 cases rose sharply to 285 with 3, 601 recoveries and
115 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to October 23, 2021.
The 80 new COVID-19 cases also include 10 senior citizens, 6 employees of private companies and 3 government workers.
Dr. Talla also disclosed that the 80 new COVID19 cases are residents of Barangays Bagacay (4), Bajumpandan (3), Balugo (1), Banilad (7), Bantayan (5), Batinguel (15), Calindagan (2), Camanjac (3), Daro (7), Junob (2), Mangnao (5), Motong (4), Piapi (1), Poblacion 1 (2), Poblacion 8 (1), Pulantubig (6), Tabuctubig (1), Taclobo (5) and Talay (3).
Of the 285 active COVID cases: 226 cases are monitored and handled by the personnel of the City Health Office; 19 are confined at Silliman University Medical Center; 17 are admitted at NOPH; 6 are confined at ACE Doctors; 6 at Holy Child Hospital; 7 admitted at Negros Polymedic Hospital and 4 who are outside of Dumaguete City.
