The City Health Office confirms that 22 of the 58 new COVID-19 cases today are vaccinated individuals and are not expected to experience severe illness that will require hospitalizations.
Nevertheless, vaccinated individuals are still urged to practice health protocols to prevent being infected or become carriers of the virus.
Health authorities also reported that 24 COVID patients have recovered today but 3 senior citizens with comorbidities died in the hospitals and their remains have been cremated.
There are now 244 active COVID-19 cases with 3, 522 recoveries and 111 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to the present October 20, 2021.
Among the 58 new COVID-19 cases are 10 senior citizens, 5 government employees, 3 children, 3 health workers, 3 teachers, 2 BPO workers and several persons who manifested symptoms of Influenza Like Illness (ILI).
Meanwhile, the 24 COVID-19 recoveries are residents of Barangays Bagacay (2), Bajumpandan (2), Banilad (2), Batinguel (1), Cadawinonan (1), Daro (7), Junob (4), Mangnao (1), Motong (1), Piapi (1), Tabuctubig (1) and Taclobo (1).
Of the 244 active COVID cases: 178 cases are monitored and handled by the personnel of the City Health Office; 17 are confined at Silliman University Medical Center; 25 are admitted at NOPH; 8 are confined at ACE Doctors; 8 at Holy Child Hospital; 5 are admitted at Negros Polymedic Hospital while 3 are outside of the city.
