Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo confirms the allocation and delivery of 50,000 doses (good for 25, 000 persons) of Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines to be used primarily for persons who are engaged in tourism and hospitality services in Dumaguete City.
City Tourism Officer Jacqueline V. Antonio said that Mayor Remollo sent a letter-request to Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat of the Department of Tourism last August for the allocation of COVID-19 jabs to vaccinate workers in the tourism industry and members of their families.
Mayor Remollo lauded the Department of Tourism, Department of Health and National Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases for their timely and favorable response to his request for COVID-19 vaccines that will help accelerate herd immunity and facilitate the safe reopening of the local economy.
Among those who are eligible to be vaccinated are workers of accommodation establishments, restaurants, cafes, food outlets, souvenir shops, dive shops, motor rentals, spas, tourism destinations, transportation sector, tour guides, tour and travel operators, massage therapists, pedicab drivers, creative industries, cultural workers, event organizers, museums and art galleries.

Meanwhile, some 75, 092 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have already been administered to 42, 257 eligible residents using Sinovac, Astrazeneca, Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and Sinopharm as of October 18, 2021.
