City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla reports 16 new COVID-19 cases with 4 recoveries and 1 death reported Saturday.
There are now 157 active COVID-19 cases with 3, 213 recoveries and 86 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to the present October 2, 2021.
Eleven of the 16 newly confirmed COVID-19 cases are persons with symptoms of Influenza Like Illness, 4 are close contacts of previous cases and 1 was swabbed for travel.
The new COVID-19 cases are residents of Barangays Balugo, Banilad (3), Bantayan (3), Batinguel (2), Buñao, Cantil-e, Daro (2), Junob, Poblacion 4 and Pulantubig.
Among those who have recovered from COVID-19 include a retiree, a senior citizen and 2 residents of Barangay Candau-ay.
Meanwhile, the lone COVID-19 fatality was a senior citizen who died while in the hospital and was promptly cremated.
