Under Lt. Col. Pineda leadership (who served as the City’s Chief-of-Police from November 3, 2017 to January 10, 2019) several remarkable accomplishments were recorded to include lowered crime volume to more than 30% compared to prior years; strengthened the campaign against illegal drugs by increasing confiscation of illegal drugs 3 time higher than the prior years; apprehended ex-policemen involved in illegal drugs; arrested numerous wanted persons and high profiled drug pushers; assisted in the establishment of Discipline Zone, which is now the avant-garde of maintaining traffic order and discipline in the city; upgraded and renovated the Dumaguete City Police Station; conducted consistent street monitoring under Oplan Sita, which resulted to the apprehension of thousands of traffic violators and the destruction of numerous illegal mufflers pursuant to local ordinance; secured numerous VIPs, both foreign and local who visited the city; organized various groups of force multipliers; secured numerous business and educational institutions from terroristic threats, especially the Silliman University Founder’s Day celebration amidst bomb threats; assisted the City Government in forcefully removing the trailers which were parked along the road at Barangay Tabuc-tubig for more than a decade and actively involved in corporate social responsibilities, such as the “PULOTenics” – clean up drive to save the environment and Run for a Cause to support cancer patients.
Thus, with all the innovative and aggressive management of Police Lt. Col. Jonathan Pineda, the Dumaguete City Police Station was awarded as the Best City Police Station in Negros Oriental.
