The Committee on Rules and Ordinances scrutinized resolutions and ordinances emanating from Barangays Bajumpandan, Junob, and Bantayan before they shall be presented to the full Sangguniang Panlungsod for final approval.
Committee Chairperson Councilor Edgar P. Lentorio Jr. presided Tuesday’s meeting with members Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino-Maxino and Councilor Lilani Ramon along with the concerned Barangay Officials and Atty. Camelo D. Pidor Jr. of the City Legal Office.
Among the proposed measures discussed were:
1. An Ordinance establishing the Violence Against Women Desk in the Barangays and Prescribing the Protocol in the Handling of all VAWC cases filed thereof
2. An Ordinance Requiring All Residents of Bajumpandan to Wear Face Masks, Face Shields or Any Protective Mouth Cover at all times when in the Public Places of the Barangay
3. A Resolution Requesting Permission of the City Government of Dumaguete City to Permit the Metro Dumaguete Water to Excavate a Portion of Concrete Road Pavement for the Improvement of Water Services in Different Areas in Barangay Junob
4. A Resolution Requesting the City Council of Dumaguete City Granting Proposed Street Name of St. Catherine Drive at Purok 8, Barangay Bantayan
Except for the ordinance establishing the VAW desk in the barangays, the 3 other measures are subject to further study by the City Legal Office and subsequent meeting of the committee.
