WASTE PICKERS GET COVID-19 HEALTH KITS AND FOOD PACKS
Waste pickers employed at the City’s Materials Recovery Facility received COVID-19 health kits and food packs in appreciation to their important role in maintaining a cleaner city. About 101 waste pickers of the old dumpsite, which was closed last March 2021 by Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo, were hired as employees of the City Government to focus on proper waste segregation of the collected solid wastes from all 30 barangays inside the 8-hectare Eco-Park Solid Waste Processing Facility. Among the donors of the goods are Metro Dumaguete Water represented by Alex Pal and Kathleen Young Ricardo; Dumaguete City Police Station headed by Police Lt. Col. Joeson B. Parallag and Hugpong Federalismo represented by its City Director Roselyn Teves. Eco-Park Solid Waste Processing Facility Engr. Leticia Duran expressed Mayor Remollo’s appreciation to the generosity of the advocacy groups, which boosted the morale of the waste pickers assigned in the facility.
