City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla that the number of active COVID-19 cases fell sharply to a 3-month low at just 44 on Monday (July 26) with just 1 newly confirmed case reported along with 20 recoveries.
Prior to the surge, the city had 43 active cases last April 29 before it surged and peak at 651 active cases on June 16, 2021 triggering the imposition of Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine.
Therefore, there are now 44 active COVID-19 cases, 2, 682 recoveries and 77 deaths since the pandemic affected Dumaguete City from January 30, 2020 to the present July 27, 2021.
The lone COVID-19 positive case confirmed today is a resident of Barangay Bantayan with travel history to Cebu City.
Meanwhile, the 20 new recoveries are residents of the following barangays: Banilad (1), Bantayan (1), Batinguel (1), Cadawinonan (2), Candau-ay (1), Daro (5), Motong (2), Piapi (4) and Pulantubig (3).
Sixteen of the 30 component baranagays already registered 0 active COVID-19 cases namely Balugo, Banilad, Cadawinonan, Camanjac, Cantil-e, Motong, Poblacion 1, Poblacion 2, Poblacion 3, Poblacion 5, Poblacion 6, Poblacion 7, Poblacion 8, Pulantubig, Tabuc-tubig and Talay.
