Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo inspected the work progress of the installation of the equipment and machines for the pyrolysis gasification process that will convert garbage into construction materials at the City’s Central Materials Recovery Facility, Thursday.
Earlier, Mayor Remollo implemented the closure of the more than 35-year-old dumpsite in Barangay Candau-ay and started operation of the city MRF.
Once fully operational, the pyrolysis machines will convert all collected solid wastes into useful byproducts such as pavers, hollow blocks and other construction materials for the various infrastructure projects and in the maintenance of roads.
Meanwhile, biodegradable wastes can be processed to become organic fertilizers.
Mayor Remollo aims to achieve the goal of a Zero Waste Dumaguete through the conversion of residual wastes into construction materials for public works coupled with the people’s cooperation in reducing consumption, practicing waste segregation and recycling.
