An additional shipment of 10, 000 vials of COVID-19 vaccines (SINOVAC) from the national government arrived today in response to the request of Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo for the allocation of more vaccines for Dumaguete City residents.
Mayor Remollo expressed his sincere gratitude to President Rodrigo Duterte, Senator Bong Go, and Vaccine Czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr., for facilitating the latest shipment that will help accelerate the inoculation of eligible city residents to achieve herd immunity even as the local authorities are trying to contain the spread of coronavirus.
This is the second shipment of COVID-19 vaccines as a follow-up to the first shipment of 10, 000 vials last June 4, 2021.
City Health Officer Dr. Maria Sarah B. Talla said that as of yesterday some 8, 209 city residents under A1 (medical frontliners), A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities) were already vaccinated based on the order of priority of the Department of Health.
Dr. Talla and City Executive Assistant for Security Concerns retired General Rey Lyndon Lawas went to the airport to document the arrival of the COVID-19 vaccines that were later received by Mayor Remollo, Vice-Mayor Karissa Tolentino and members of the City Council as they were unloaded for storage at the City Health Office.
The COVID-19 vaccination for A2 and A3 continues at the two different sites from Monday to Saturday.
Senior citizens and persons with comorbidities, who have registered, are reminded to wait for the call or notification from the City Health Office that will confirm their schedule and place of vaccination.
To ensure the orderly conduct of vaccination and avoid overcrowding, walk-ins are discouraged.
